Day 2 Freedom Plan Blog Challenge – Finding Your Why

(Last Updated On: April 19, 2017)

blog-challenge-badge-12I’m participating in the 10 Day Freedom Plan Blog Challenge. If you would like to join me, do so HERE! The challenge is all about action and getting clear on what your ideal lifestyle really is so that you can get focused on it and move towards it.

Today is Day 2 and the challenge of the day is “…to write down a reason for why you want to live the freedom lifestyle. Bonus points if you can figure out how to make a positive impact in the world by living this lifestyle.”

I have several why’s behind my search for freedom:

  • I have authority issues and love being the only one in charge of myself and my success. Of course, at times this is a drawback when I freak out about being the only one responsible. However, there is nothing I love more than knowing that if I want to make more money, I can choose to work more hours. If I want less hours, I can choose what to outsource and delegate. Sure, my clients determine what they want for their ghost writing articles, but I can choose to no longer work with them if it’s not a good fit. There may be losing clients at some points, but even if I lost every single client one day that doesn’t mean I’m out of business until I give up. I LOVE THAT! I’m the boss and I’m the deciding factor on all the things. That’s HUGE for me.
  • I don’t like schedules and rules. Yes, I’m at my most productive when I’m working with routine, but if I wake up one day with zero desire to write, I love having the freedom to simply choose not to work that day (provided I wasn’t dumb enough to procrastinate until deadline day – working on that lol)
  • I want to be here for my family. When my mom was in the hospital, I was able to stay in the waiting room working on my laptop. When I was on a three week working vacation this summer, I worked on my phone in the car and my laptop at rest areas. When I went to Kentucky to visit relatives, I worked in living rooms, McDonald’s and libraries. I couldn’t have been there for my family if I didn’t have the freedom to be able to work  anywhere with Wi-Fi.

So, there you have it. My why for freedom is to have control over my time, schedule and success level. I should re-read this blog post frequently now that I’m thinking about it, because DAMN, I’m lucky to have the freedom based business I do.

Bonus points:

One way I’m using my freedom to make a positive impact is to give a voice to people who struggle to write their own blogs on their own websites. My main gig in my business is ghost writing 😉 I also make a positive impact by giving back when I can. I have written a few posts for free for charity and (although more side gig than bread and butter) in my photography work I’ve photographed many charity events for free to help out the community. In the future I’d like to give more back to the community and I’m working on ideas to do that.
